THE ART DECO INSPIRED ARTIST
Recapturing an Era of Style and Sophistication
For over a decade, the paintings of Atlanta-based artist, Jeff Williams, have been inspired by the formal and flamboyant style of the Art Deco Period. With an incredible eye for style and design, his work are imbued with intricate patterns, lush rich colors, and early Twentieth Century fashion and lifestyle embellishments.
Although formally trained at the Art Institute in Atlanta, Jeff has been painting since his childhood.
His images range from brightly colored galas to sultry, sophisticated scenes that are captured in more subdued palettes. After time spent in Europe, he began using stain washes; a technique that has added more depth and intensity to his body of work.
Mr. Williams has participated in many fine art shows throughout the United States.
Of particular importance, in 2007 he was chosen as one of twelve artists from America to participate in the prestigious Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts Show at the Carrousel Du Louvre in Paris, France. As this was the first time American artists had participated in over one hundred years, this was a tremendous honor.
Most recently, he has been commissioned as The Official Artist for the 2009 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks. 2009 is the 135th running of the these World Renowned Thoroughbred Horse Races. The Kentucky Derby is held on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The Kentucky Oaks(the “fillies” race) is on Friday, the day before.
Jeff Williams is represented by many fine art galleries across the United States. Among them are; Karen Lynne Gallery in Beverly Hills, CA and Boca Raton, FL, Chasen Galleries of Fine Art in Charlotte NC and Richmond Virginia, and Gallery Diamante in Carmel by the Sea, CA.
His paintings also hang in many private collections.
